I wish one could rate this book in different categories. There are some very good things about the book and some bad things about it.The content/pictures are interesting. Some you can guess right away, others you're not positive what they are even when finished.I have enjoyed the book to a point, but have also become very frustrated and angry about its publication. Why did the publisher allow this to happen. A revision should have been required. Why the frustration and anger? The numbers are so tiny and so faintly printed some cannot be seen without a magnifying glass. In many areas the number are much too close together, then in others they are nearly a full page apart. In the introduction the author mentions a ruler. I thought, "Why would one need a ruler for a dot to dot puzzle?" I soon found out. You may have two consecutive numbers that are an inch or two apart, but in between the two consecutive numbers are other numbers. They appear to be right on the line you want to draw from one number to the next. It takes a ruler from say "14" to "15" in order to tell if your line should be drawn to the right or the left of these numbers that appear to be "in the way" of the line you want to draw. If you draw your line on the wrong side of these two consecutive numbers, you will be in trouble later in the puzzle. Most of the images are good when completed, but completing some of them is not easy due to the size of the type and the faintness of the printing. It's not very relaxing to have to use a ruler and a magnifying glass to complete a puzzle. It's also cumbersome if you want to sit in a comfortable place and relax with the book and the fun of seeing what turns out, having to gather ruler and magnifying glass before beginning takes a lot of the fun out of the puzzles and creates a situation in which they are not relaxing. In fact, they can become stressful and frustrating. This book has some very good points and some very bad points......the reason I would like to be able to rate it in categories, not just the star system. I rated it a three star, but considered because of what is mentioned above, giving it only two stars. We do these kinds of things to relax and have fun. Not true of this book most of the time. I'd like to see a second, similar book in the series with number (and letters) one can easily read and not become frustrated.
I loved dot to dot books as a child, and now at the ripe old age of 77, I still enjoy them very much. The series of books for "grown-ups" are just that. Several of the puzzles cover two pages, and have several thousand dots. If this is something you enjoy, these are the books for you; if you think they are too childish or too large/hard, you would not like these books. I love them all, and I am considering buying each one of the dot-to-dot books again and working all the puzzles a second time.
I purchased this book for myself and liked it so much I got another one as a gift. I like to dot-to-dots because they are calming and a challenge. I know the person I plan to give this book too will also enjoy the challenge. The print is a good size also... that is important for some people. Give the book a try, you will find that you are hooked!
THIS is a perfect ADULT dot-to-dot! I have purchased a few others and they are NOT as fun, they are not as interesting and most of them don't have more than 75-100 dots. I sat down and started this book, next thing I looked up and it was 3 hours later. I use it as a coping mechanism, it truly is a huge stress relief. (Much better than coloring because you don't have to decide on colors!)
This is one of the best dot to dot books I have purchased. The finished pictures are great. The only tough thing with some of these is that the numbers can be difficult to see. I would recommend this to all.
I was looking forward to relaxing and playing dot to dot puzzles. I was extremely disappointed when I received my book. The numbers on each picture was so small I couldn't see them. Unless you have magnifying glasses it's impossible to see the numbers.
These are for grown ups and I for one who just started doing them LOVE them for something great to do.
As I had read previously, these are not the best dot-to-dots but thought I would give them a try. Very hard to follow and very small.
It's a fun thing to pass the time, but the puzzles are nowhere near as intricate as I imagined they would be. I assume that when I saw "Dot to Dot for Grown Ups," my expectations where possibly a bit too high, but either way, it is still a good distraction when necessary
