From Library Journal

The Queen's Jewels captures the opulence and splendor of the gems of English queens from Mary Queen of Scots to Elizabeth II. Organized alphabetically by gemstones, this historical and visual documentary elegantly displays the world's most famous jewelry collection intertwined with accounts of romance, intrigue, and politics. It offers an inside look at the tastes of each monarch, from Queen Mary's Delhi Durbar emeralds to Elizabeth II's diamond engagement ring designed by Prince Philip. The Jewels of the Duchess of Windsor documents the final chapter of this century's best-known love story, that of the Engish king who abdicated to marry American divorcee Wallis Warfield Simpson, and the sale of the historic collection of jewels he gave her. Rayner, however, curiously focuses on a biography of the Duke and the events leading to the fabled marriage. Beautifully illustrated, the catalog portion meticulously describes and displays each of the 214 pieces, ranging from memorabilia of the Duke to the exquisite jewels designed mostly by Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels. Includes a list of prices from the sale of the collection in 1987. Carefully researched and designed, both books are recommended. Stephen Allan Patrick, East Tennessee State Univ. Lib., Johnson CityCopyright 1987 Reed Business Information, Inc.

I first saw this book for sale when I was a tourist at The Tower of London in the mid 90's. My sister bought a copy, which we both read intently whenever we had a spare minute during that trip. Fascinating historical insight on the most drool-worthy jewelry collection in the world. I never forgot this book, and was so happy to find a copy on Amazon. It's been nineteen years since that trip to England, and two years since I bought my copy, but I never seem to tire of looking at and reading this book.

This was a good book but it could have had more pictures of the Queens jewels, this book appeared to focus on the older gems in the collection and not the ones from the 1940's and 50's which there are many great pieces from that era. So the book is OK but it lacks many of the queens favorite pieces!

Gifted my 90 plus Mother this elegant book for Christmas; she is a major "QEII" fan (she would be a groupie if she could find a way...:-)) and loved the book. A real labor of love.

This is a wonderful book of the royal jewels and a history of where they came from. One of my favorites!

Since I started watching shows about the Queen of England I was interested in seeing what she had in her jewelry box.

I love reading about some of the best jewelry collections the Tower of London hold. I never tire of the history behind some of the most fascinating and well-designed pieces. Truly works of art. Couple my love of history with my love of jewelry and this is the perfect book for people with the same taste.

I can't get enough pictures and information about the royal jewelry. I love jewelry and can only dream of such riches so this is a fun book for me to own.

I am her majesty's most loyal American subjects but I seldom buy books on Royalty. I simply love this book and have read it from cover to cover. The history of the jewels, antidotes of royal lore and fine pictures make it well worth the purchase. I have found a few errors which surprised me because I have a latter edition of the book. I can't wait for my copy of the Queen's Diamonds to come so I can compare them.
