Would love to see an updated index with more common symptoms/ailments. Warts & shingles would be good to add to the index
I think this is a good book to keep in your collection if you are interested in homeopathy. This particular book has the usual information on what to take for colds or toothaches and that sort of thing that you typically find in these type of books but also has more obscure and exotic things ranging from gunshot wounds to epidemics. It also has sections with recommended remedies for ailments common in certain occupations and hobbies. There is also a fairly in depth section on pregnancy and childbirth as well as organ remedies pertaining to problems with various organs. I showed this book to a friend who has been using homeopathy for decades and had never seen some of the things mentioned in this book. In fact I will probably buy another copy for my friend. Definitely a good book to have around the house.
I like this book very much - tried it out on my Kindle Touch and gave it a good skim before reluctantly returning it. It has a table of contents, but the VITAL sections "Ailments A to Z" and "Remedy Descriptions" have no subheadings at all! This means you have to know the names of the remedies (or the exact name used for the ailment) in order to search - or you have to flip through. Which makes it a good book for flipping through and learning more about homeopathy, but not so good for a quick reference in the Kindle format. There is an index - you have to go to "end" and then flip back a few pages to find it. This gives you page numbers to "go to" but they are not touch accessible. If the author updates this book with a better table of contents for quick reference, I will absolutely consider buying it again for the Kindle.Things I particularly liked in this book were the sections on Pregnancy and Birth; First Aid Remedies for Specific Occupations & Activities (there is some humor here); Economizing (makes sense); and Remedies for Your Home Kit. All very useful chapters. I am adding it to my maybe list for a paperback copy - my space is limited so would have preferred a Kindle copy with a better table of contents!
Although this provided some information re: Homeopathy and how to incorporate it into your life, it was not inclusive or detailed enough for me.
Alan Schmukler has written a most comprehensive, enlightening, and invaluable book that has aided me in too many ways to ever list. I have effectively used and recommended remedies for myself, my family, my friends, and even new acquaintances, all thanks to this cornucopia of wisdom and insight from one of homeopathy's Masters. Whether you are just beginning to explore the fascinating world of homeopathy, or a long time student interested in this Master's interpretations, you will be so inspired and so greatly educated by Alan Schmukler's Handbook!
This is such a well written book with lots of great information. Not only does Alan Schmukler give information for common illness, but he also goes into what to do in case there is and epidemic. As he mentions, these are strange times with diseases resisting antibiotics, terrorist attacks and so forth. I feel better prepared with this book and purchasing the remedies needed to have on hand in case something major happens and hospitals are too full or if I can't even get to a hospital... I'll know how to take care of me and my family from the simplest cold all the way to Anthrax. This is a must have book!

live fae or die trying is an interesting read but it has several issues firstly balor is overly typical dominant male who is too dominant and in need of an arse kicking or atleast humbling to decrease the annoyingly dominant cliche male nonsense 2nd the mc clark has secrets which havent been revealed as yet for the most part but the author kept overly hinting at it while i dont have problems with secrets i have problem with overly hinting at them if your going to reveal them reveal them dont keep beating around the bush just my opinion though so yes it was overall decent read minus these drawbacks though tbh i wish instead of staying with the claustrophobic court shed have told them she was leaving lol id rather see her on the fringes then in archaic claustrophobic court lead be the dominant alpha type who has no buisness being leader of fae court now there is more to balot that meets the eye yes but yeah his dominant nature rather his overly dominant nature needs to be corralled and i rather see clark end up with tiaman than balor unless balor improves heavily and that whole clan bond magic needs to be destroyed as well no one should be compelled to do anything against there will or bowing or anything of that nature but yes this book has promise and i hope things are massively improved in the next one but if not so be it
This book has it all. A brave heroine with a mysterious past. A brooding, overbearing love interest who happens to be the leader of a world said heroine is trying to avoid. Suspense, murder, creepy catacombs, warring factions...Trust me, you want to read this book. As a self-proclaimed urban fantasy aficionado, I've rarely come across a story idea that I haven't already read in some form. There's only so much one can do with vampires, werewolves, and sorcerers (oh my!) without becoming redundant. Ms. Wolfhart has somehow managed to breathe a bit of fresh air into the idea of "Fae" in her new Paranormal PI series though, and I am hooked. It's part fantasy, part murder mystery, part romance, and all fun!
Loved the characters and the plot, but the worldbuilding and execution were weak in some areas. The series has lots of potential, so I may try reading the next book so I can see where Wolfhart takes the storyline. An interesting tale, but holes in the plot (as well as some things I didn't buy into- such as how easily she capitulated to aligning with a court), caused minor frustration.
A courtless half fae hiding from the Prince and barely making a living as a P.I. suddenly finds herself in court assisting an investigation into far disappearances. What's a girl to do? This isn't a Cinderella story! My first time reading this author and I really enjoyed the book with its twists and turns. Can't wait for the sequel.
A new and interesting take on fae fantasy. Clark is a half-fae PI without a court until she runs into Prince Balor who won’t take no as an answer. She winds up in his crimson court investigating the disappearance of several of his subjects including her inside source and friend Ondine. With sparks flying between them and secrets keeping them apart what will become of Clark, the prince and the missing women? Pick up a copy and find out! Great read!
This book is a very good beginning of a new Urban Fantasy story. The author creates a believable world for it to take place in and the characters are richly developed. The heroine is feisty and sarcastic but has a good heart. The hero is the strong type who has to be in control and has problems with the heroine. Good action and story line. I really enjoyed reading this book.
A fun mystery to read. Kind of similar to chloe neil. Enjoyable, interesting characters and a surprise bad guy to catch.
Love this new series. Can't wait to find out Clark's & Balor's secret. Interesting concept of all the fae have their on unique skills. Can't wait for the next book.

To start this review off -- I've read a lot of books about the RMS Titanic and have personally learned much about its history. So going into this particular book, I wasn't exactly sure how "Eyewitness to Titanic" could be much different, but I have to say... it is UNIQUE in its own way, and I truly enjoyed it.Here's the deal: This books offers tidbits of information on everything there is to know about the ill-fated ship, RMS Titanic. How does this differ from other non-fiction Titanic titles on the market? Most other books may center on only one of the topics touched in "Eyewitness". For example, one book may focus only on the history behind the ship, while another book may tell about the passengers' lives, the crew, or Dr. Ballard's discovery of the shipwreck. (I know this, because I've personally read all those individual types of books.) But instead of reading 4+ different books to get the overall facts about Titanic... READ THIS ONE FIRST. It's an excellent starting place, and it makes for light reading material. Or try it out even if you are already familiar with the Titanic, because it might bring out a few impressive points you hadn't heard of yet -- as it did for me!"Eyewitness to Titanic" is perfect for both children and adults. It covers the most basic information you need to know, and serves it to you in an easy-to-read manner. You won't drown in a sea of words in this book (AKA, plenty of pictures and visual content). After reading it, (if you have an inquisitive mind like my own!) you'll want to graduate into the bigger, in-depth books to find out the details behind your favorite part of the story. Perhaps you'll be more drawn to the building process, the iceberg, the aftermath of the tragedy, or the hunt for the wreck decades later. Regardless, it's all in there, ready for you to explore.What I love: All 162 pages feature good information and fascinating facts. There are dozens of photos and illustrations to really set the scene and help the reader dive into the Titanic and her history. In addition, there are plenty of charts, lists, short quotes, quick facts and other types of content to keep one interested. Not only will you learn about the history of the ship, the architecture, and building process, you'll also have a chance to meet passengers aboard the ship and come in contact with the personal side of the disaster too.Keep in mind, April is always an excellent month to read a book on the Titanic to commemorate the anniversary, since the tragedy happened on April 14-15. 2015 marks the 103rd anniversary since the fatal disaster.The bottom-line: This is the perfect starter guide for a person with an interest in learning about The Unsinkable Ship, or as a refresher course for someone who already has been studying the Titanic. Since the book is packed with so many morsels of history, it's worth an occasional perusal after the initial reading too.
If you are looking for a book for your middle-grade child to use for a report on the Titanic, I doubt you could find better than this. It has so many facts about the ship, from the men who first got the idea of building it ,to the people who built and designed it, the passengers ,crew, capacity , price of tickets , all the "extra features " that made it such a classy ship, lists of some of the famous people on board and whether they survived or not , reasons why they may have avoided such a catastrophe ( seems as if they spent more on the luxury end of things and not enough on the safety and building materials used .I honestly can't think of much f anything more detailed someone would need to know about the Titanic . I think young boys who are interested in ship would absolutely love this book !
Wow. This book is beautifully formatted with photos, drawings and diagrams and interesting facts about the Titanic and how it was built, how it sank, the passengers and the survivors. There is also a chapter about how the wreckage was found along with more photos. I learned many interesting things about the Titanic from this book that I did not know before. I think the book is great for school libraries, and I think that adults as well as children will find the book to be interesting and informative. I received this book free to review from Netgalley.
**I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review**Are you sure all your facts are correct? Ok, maybe. We've read a lot of children's books on the Titanic and we always read that 4 compartments could flood, but you state 3. It distracted my 9 year old and me. Maybe include some back up with that.The pacing was a little too fast without much detail. The other thing that really bugged me and is more responsible for the 2 star rating, stop calling attention to the Titanic sinking when you are writing about it being built or discovered or the several other times it was mentioned.It's not like you were giving us spoilers, we all know the Titanic sank. But seriously, lay off until you get there. You have everything split into nice sections, but when you jump topics like that, it's...I'm sorry...annoying. I can't in good conscience recommend this to anyone wanting to learn about the Titanic.
I'm a Titanic buff so when I saw this book I was curious to see what it held.The book is replete with illustrations, photographs, maps and charts. It resembles a museum exhibit. Despite the fact that there are a lot of technical facts, this book is fun and easy to read. There were quotes from secular sources as well as survivors. It's perfect for young readers who don't like to read. This book is great for Titanic fans of all ages.

Well done.The book was very well researched with a lot of great facts. The author has really done a great job getting his facts right.BUT the reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is because of it's title. The title is; 'Eyewitness to Titanic'. The book does not live up to that title. Yes we heard about a few scenes from the survivors of Titanic. But the book is mainly about thw ship itself, how it came to life, how it was run and so on. I think I was on page 80 or something, before anything about an eyewitness' experiences were mentioned. Followed was about 40 pages half-filled with new infomation about the ship and half-filled with eyewitnesses. Then the book ended with a long description of how Titanic was found about 60-70 years later. So no. I do not think it lives up to its title nor description.But otherwise it was a very great book. Easy to read and it had a LOT of numbers for number-freaks.

This is a really wonderful coloring book filled with many Christian-based designs. I also want to mention immediately that it is one of the better made coloring books that I have purchased but more about that later. The coloring book has 50 pages of designs and additional bookmarks, tags, and cards that you can color and cut out for your use.What I love about the book is that almost every one of the designs is Christian-based. Many Christian coloring books only devote one third or so of the design pages to providing a Christian message. In this book, page after page is devoted to Bible quotes. The words are incorporated into the design and are part of what you will color. That will make it easy to meditate on the words while I am coloring. The verses are also cited so it is easy to look up and see the words in context.The book is very well made. The cover is extremely strong hardboard. It is printed on one side only of heavyweight perforated paper. The binding is at the top and is spiral bound. The print quality is excellent and dark. I really appreciate this binding as you can flip to any page and have access to the entire design. The cover then becomes a portable “desk†which allows you to color easily when on-the-go. While I am not a “leftyâ€, spiral bound works fantastic for them as they don't have to color over the “hump†of the binding. A few of the designs extend beyond the perforations, which is a little frustrating. I won't remove these from the book as I will lose a bit of the design if I do. This could be easily solved in future additions to this series by sizing the design to fit below the perforations.This is printed on great paper. All of my alcohol-based markers bled through but none of my water-based ones did. Gel pens worked fantastic as well and did not bleed through or leave shadows at the back. Coloring pencils worked nicely as well and behaved according to their type of lead (soft/hard core.) This publisher also published a book geared at a younger starting age (but I like it, too!) which has a grade of paper I wish they had used for their other books. That book (“Inspirational Coloring Book for Girlsâ€) does not even allow for alcohol-based markers to bleed through. In any case, put a piece of card stock or chipboard or even heavyweight paper below the page you are working on and you will prevent ink from seeping through.These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markersGel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo 0.38/0.28 and TekwriterColoring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos
Love love love this color book. This is the book I go to every time I'm ready to relax. Love the top spiral and the thick pages.
What a nice book. The cover just blew me away. So much thought went into this book. The spiral spine is great. The cover is like a hard cover book. The pages are thick and great quality. They can be removed. The only issue I experienced was that with my fiskars and my markers, they smeared some. That xan be dealt with if you just let dry and pay attention to what you should color first. I will buy this again. The scripture is lovely. I love this book.
I have really started getting into the Adult Coloring recently and I am always on the lookout for a book that has both scripture in it and that has a good quality page I can color on. This book by Christian Art Publishers is my ALL TIME FAVORITE that I have purchased anywhere!!The book itself is bound at the top so it makes it easy to flip to the page you are working on and fold it so you aren't dealing with the binding of the book interferring with the page you are working on. The pages themselves are beautiful!! Each one has a verse and the picture describes the verse or goes along with it in some way. The quality of the paper is nice enough, that I have several that I am going to pull out of the book and put in frames to hang in my kids room. I color with both gel pens and colored pencils and love the way they both react to the pages in this book!! I have included some pictures so you can see some of the pages and the quality of the drawings. I will be purchasing more from this company! I paid retail price for this product, with no promise for a review.
About a year ago, I discovered the joy and relaxation of adult coloring books and it's been both stress-relieving and fun! I've built quite the collection of coloring books and had fun with colored pencils and gel pens as well. I was delighted to see that there are Christian inspiration and religious coloring books too. This one looked like just what I wanted so I ordered it in hopes that it would live up to my expectations."The Word in Color" Biblical coloring book is a spiral-bound, hardcover book containing Bible verses meant to inspire reflection while coloring. The book measures 7 1/4 inches (L) by 10 1/8 inches (H) by 1/2 inch (W). The pages themselves measure 7 inches by 10 inches. There are 52 one-sided pages with beautiful designs and Bible verses. Of those 52 pages, 47 pages boast Bible verses and designs such as floral, nature, or various modern, tasteful pictures that are fun to color. Of the 5 remaining pages, there are 6 bookmarks, 6 small cards, and 13 gift tags. You'll need to cut the cards, bookmarks, and gift tags out and punch holes through the gift tags and bookmarks for ribbons. The tops of all of the pages are perforated so you can tear the pages out if you wish to frame or give to friends and family or you can just leave them in the book. The paper used is nice and thick, the designs are boldly printed and don't look cheap, and almost all of the designs are easy to color, with just a few intricate ones.I love this book and am so happy with my purchase! I love the Bible verses and the pictures included. While I'm coloring I reflect on the verse on that particular page or something I heard on K-LOVE or listen to Christian music. The drawings promote thoughtfulness and peacefulness and are a lot of fun to color. So far I've mostly used my Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core, 72-Count and they color wonderfully in this book. I've also tried Top Quality Gel Pens (Pack of 60) and those work nicely. The color doesn't bleed through but the backs of the pages show indentations from where I colored so it's not a big deal to me. There are a few pages where the design is printed over the perforated edges and past it so if you tear those pages out, part of the design will remain in the book. If anything, you could just leave those pages in the book or tear them out if that doesn't bother you.Overall, I am very happy with this book and recommend it to anyone who wants a religious coloring book! There are many designs to color and you can share it with a friend since the pages are perforated or just color it all yourself. I noticed that Christian Art Publishers also has other coloring books and I may have to purchase those as well. I feel this book is nicely-priced and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this for a friend or family member as a gift. This is a great inspirational coloring book and I highly recommend it!

10 Stars. Luke Dittrich has written a wonderful, heartbreaking story about the life of Patient H.M., real name, Henry G. Molaison. During the time of Walter Freeman and his lobotomobile, there was also a man named Dr. William Scofield. Scofield, was a popular neurosurgeon and lobotomist of the day. Henry, due to his frequent seizures, became Dr. Scofield's patient and was liberally operated on and subsequently suffered horrible amnesia which prevented him from enjoying life, except for one moment at a time. Patient H.M became the most studied research subject in history.With the invention of the lobotomy and subsequent brain study, doctors who previously only had their data from simian experiments could actually use patients from asylums to study the brain. This story is a journey of the brain and those who pioneered in the experiments to find out what part of the brain controls which human function. Naturally, the lobotomists thought that severing those frontal lobes did wonders for their patients-over time this became questionable. In Henry's case, Dr. Scofield went a little deeper into both lobes rendering him a complete amnesiac who could eat two meals having never remembered eating the first. This book pays tribute to Henry as he selflessly gave his time for scientific study.This story is a fascinating study of Henry and those who controlled him, and it is an unveiling of hidden family secrets laid bare by the writing talents of Luke Dittrich. While some of the situations in this book are not for the squeamish, I highly recommend reading this book-this is the most interesting book of the year. I can imagine Mr. Dittrich unearthing the knowledge inside this book over time-it must have been an amazing albeit troubling journey. My own family grew faint at my discussions of lobotomies and the brain as I read this book-I couldn't help but talk about it. My husband said he never wanted to hear the word lobotomy again-but what a story and what a sacrifice it was for Henry. This is an excellent book-highly recommend!
This book was absolutely INCREDIBLE. I cannot praise it enough. Anyone who is interested in bioethics and neuroscience should read this book. It takes a huge amount of bravery from an author to write about something so very close to his own family, and be honest enough to admit his grandfather who performed lobotomies including one on Patient HM (when you are in Neuroscience like I was you never quit hearing about Patient HM). One reviewer said this book was written in anger...I don't think so. If he was angry, it was more about what his grandfather did to his grandmother (they don't know what operation he did on her). And I would agree with Dittrich, that his grandfather's penchant to perform psychiatric surgery was ridiculous. I think one of the best parts of this book was the revelation that his grandmother not only divorced this man, but went on to gain a couple of degrees and work with children the rest of her life. Kudos to her.But I see other emotions about Dittrich's grandfather. Confusion, pride for what Scoville did right, acknowledgement of his foibles, and some love maybe leftover from when Dittrich was a child, and looked up to this man. None of us have absolutely perfect fathers or grandfathers, but we still often have mixed feelings about them when we grow older.What really bothered me was the attitude not just of Scoville towards others, but so many of that generation. I'm boggled at the idea that they were still doing lobotomies in the 1970's, but it didn't surprise me. They were still sterilizing people like me who were disabled (I'm Deaf) in the 1970's. Eugenics was alive and well even then, and what's scary is the powers that be in politics, are working to make eugenics come back. Besides that, all the talk of implants in people for whatever reason, raise all kinds of bioethical flags.This is absolutely required reading if you want to know about HM. I actually think I was less mad about Scoville who gave Henry his condition of memory loss, than I was at the female psychiatrist who destroyed records on what they did to him, and took back his brain from whom they asked to slice his brain into something they could study...because the man obviously had another lesion which Scoville didn't do. All so she could protect her blasted reputation. That isn't science, and if she's still alive, she should be removed from her position, and probably have her license taken away from her. Totally bad behavior on the part of a scientist in the US. We hold our science to a lot higher level...and she broke all the boundaries of decent behavior!
After an okay career in adventure journalism for popular magazines, Luke Dittrich has produced his first book, the story he was born to write. Dittrich comes from an aristocratic American family that had some dark secrets. His grandfather Scoville was an evangelistic exponent and practitioner of prefrontal lobotomies during the 1950s; his grandmother was a remarkably independent woman before she married her dashing, philandering husband. The quiet "Bam Bam," as Luke and his siblings called her, had a breakdown early in her marriage to Scoville; after various forms of shock treatment she was lobotomized, perhaps by Scoville himself.Scoville's biggest case, Dittrich learned, was a lobotomy on the epileptic Henry Moulaison. His drill went too far, and Moulaison, known in brain literature as Patient H.M., lost all his present-tense memory. He was studied by many people, especially by Suzanne Corkle, who coincidentally lived across the street from Dittrich's family when they were children.Yes, Dittrich had a story to tell, but Corkle would not share her notes on Patient H.M. with him; she was writing her own book. Anger, anger, anger. It drives Dittrich's story. This book is a great read.
Difficult to research with the resistance of a major figure in the story. A very good job in spite of it.You can see almost firsthand the incredible arrogance of a doctor who blindly removes vital parts of the brains of fellow human beings and what they are left with. And while he is hoping to cure terrible problems, he almost seems more interested in finding out the function of parts of the brain and where memory is lodged.It is a clever mystery, a medical tretise, a human story. It is also a terrible, frightening story if you think of poor H.M.All very interesting, however.
